On June 16, 2020, a consignment containing 192 EC EC-Certified Humidified High-Flow Nasal Cannula Oxygen Ventilators arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya.

The ventilators were donated by Stanbic Bank Kenya and its partners, including Base Titanium, Centum, Gulf Power, Valar Frontier, and Africa Practice, as a private sector response to help the government combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on behalf of the partners, Charles Mudiwa, Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Kenya, said the acquisition of the ventilators was a crucial step in strengthening the healthcare system in Kenya and saving lives beyond the crisis.

‘We have been working closely with the Kenyan government, who have given us great guidance during the purchase and airlifting process,’ Mudiwa said.

‘With only 246 ventilators available in the country and with the current COVID-19 pandemic, it was essential for like-minded corporates to partner and align resources to reach the scale and scope needed to fight COVID-19,’ he added.
