As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, the government has made a crucial decision to extend the operating hours of restaurants in Nairobi.
According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, restaurants will now be allowed to operate until 7:30pm, a significant relaxation of the previous closing times of 4pm and 5pm.
However, bars and entertainment spots remain closed until further notice, as the government continues to monitor the situation.
CS Kagwe emphasized the importance of adhering to strict health and safety protocols, including the use of thermometers, washing points, and sanitizers, as well as the mandatory wearing of masks by both customers and restaurant workers.
Failure to comply with these regulations will result in the permanent revocation of restaurant licenses.
It is worth noting that the government's decision to ease up on regulations comes at a time when coronavirus cases are on the rise.
