Chelsea is poised to complete a £53m move for German striker Timo Werner, who reportedly wants to leave RB Leipzig in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and join the London club this summer.

According to widespread reports originating in Germany, Werner will leave Leipzig's campaign after the team's last match in the Bundesliga, which is set to continue against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Wednesday.

Werner will complete Leipzig's Bundesliga season but wants to leave before the Champions League resumes in August, allowing him to join Chelsea and sign a £180,000-a-week contract.

Chelsea's move for Werner comes after Liverpool decided against spending the same amount of money in a pandemic.
