Published on June 16, 2020, the Senate Business Committee has proposed 11 members to investigate the impeachment motion against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

The proposed committee members are:

  • Philip Mpaayei

The impeachment motion against Waiguru was tabled in the Kirinyaga County Assembly on March 31, 2020, by MCA David Kinyua Wangui, who accused Waiguru of abuse of office, gross misconduct, and violation of the Constitution of Kenya.

On June 9, 2020, 23 out of the 33-member County Assembly voted in favor of Governor Waiguru's removal, falling short of the two-thirds vote composition needed to ensure her ouster bid succeeds.
