Kenya has lost another talented musician, Erick Omondi Long Lilo, a celebrated Luo Benga musician who passed away on June 16, 2020 after a long battle with cancer.
According to his close friend and fan, Jack Oduor, Omondi died at Bondo sub-county hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for the disease.
Omondi had been on record asking for financial support to cater for his medical expenses, a testament to the high cost of treating cancer in Kenya.
His death comes just days after the demise of popular Ohangla musician Abenny Jachiga, who was pronounced dead in a Kisumu hospital.
News of Omondi's death has sent shockwaves across social media, with fans and lovers of Benga music trooping to send their condolence messages to the family.
