Kenya's State House has confirmed its first coronavirus cases, with four officials testing positive for Covid-19 following a mass screening on June 11, 2020.
According to State House spokesperson Kanze Dena, the identities of the four infected officials will remain concealed as they seek treatment at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital in Kiambu County.
Ms Dena stated that families and close contacts of the affected officers are being attended to accordingly, and that President Uhuru Kenyatta and the first family are "safe and free from Covid-19".
State House has implemented undisclosed protocols for all visitors and staff residing outside the compound in an effort to curb more infections.
As of June 16, 2020, the number of fatalities in Kenya rose to 104, while 1,286 people have recovered from coronavirus infection.
