As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the country, a worrying development has emerged at State House in Nairobi. Four Kenyans who work at State House have tested positive for coronavirus, confirmed by a communication from State House spokesperson Kanze Dena on June 11, 2020.
According to the communication, the four staff members were among those who underwent mass COVID-19 testing held on Thursday, June 11, 2020. The tests are conducted regularly on all staff, including His Excellency the President and members of his family, as part of proactive measures to contain the spread of the disease.
The infected officers were admitted at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital in Kiambu County for treatment. Their families and close contacts are also being attended to accordingly.
State House has rolled out extra access protocols for staff residing outside the compound and visitors to strengthen COVID-19 containment measures. The institution has also assured Kenyans that His Excellency the President and the First Family are safe and free from COVID-19.
State House spokesperson Kanze Dena Mararo emphasized that every person is at risk of contracting COVID-19 and urged Kenyans to fully adhere to the COVID-19 containment protocols set out by the Ministry of Health.
