As Kenya eases its dusk-to-dawn curfew, sex workers are among those benefiting from the change, with businesses slowly bouncing back.
With the new curfew hours starting at 9.00 pm and ending at 4.00 am, sex workers are implementing hygiene protocols to minimize the risk of Covid-19 transmission.
Representatives of the sex workers have emphasized the importance of being recognized and are urging the Ministry of Health to top up the existing anti-Covid-19 guidelines.
Some of the measures they are taking include changing beddings after every client, limiting the number of customers, frequently disinfecting objects, and adapting activities to avoid close contact.
Additionally, sex workers are showering or washing before and after each session to minimize the risk of transmission.
