On June 15, 2020, the Ministry of Labour ordered the deregistration of the White Eagle Community Based Organisation, a Naivasha conservation group involved in protecting water bodies.

The move comes after the group's members were involved in violent demonstrations, which paralyzed transport along the Moi South Lake road. The protests were sparked by the group's attempt to open a corridor leading to Lake Naivasha, a move that was met with resistance from a flower farm and a private land owner.

A government official, who wished to remain anonymous, alleged that some members of the organisation had engaged in illegal fishing activities around the lake and were involved in the violent demonstrations.

Lucas Karobia, a director of the group, confirmed that they had received a letter from the Naivasha Sub-county Development officer cancelling their licence. However, he expressed uncertainty about the reasons behind the cancellation, stating that they would engage the officer for more information.

According to Karobia, 75 per cent of corridors around the lake had been blocked by investors, yet there were maps identifying them as access roads.
