As Kenya prepares to reopen its economy after the lockdown, the government has issued guidelines for businesses to operate safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For customers, these guidelines mean taking extra precautions to minimize the risk of infection when visiting salons and barbershops.
Before entering a salon, customers are advised to set an appointment to avoid long waiting periods and to ensure there is enough space between them and the next client.
Once inside, customers should wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before their treatment, and ensure that their beautician is wearing a mask.
Salon equipment, including tools, workstations, capes, and towels, should be clean and disinfected before use, and customers should be provided with a clean cape when necessary.
Business owners and employees are also required to follow strict hygiene and safety protocols, including regular cleaning and disinfection of the premises, restrooms, and high-traffic areas.
They must also display social distancing and health guidelines in their premises and provide a handwashing station for workers to wash their hands after each client.
Additionally, a covered receptacle should be provided for the disposal of masks and other disposable protective gear.
By following these guidelines, both customers and business owners can help minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission in salons and barbershops.
