On June 11, 2020, chaos erupted in a village as hundreds of mourners clashed with police over the burial of celebrated ohangla musician Bernard Onyango Obonyo, popularly known as Abenny Jachiga.

According to reports, the mourners had managed to stop Jachiga's burial, removing the casket from the grave and walking it around the village before taking it to the nearest mortuary for preservation.

However, at around 1:40am on June 13, 2020, police removed the body from the morgue and took it to the musician's home, where they buried him under the cover of darkness.

Only Jachiga's younger brother, Austin Omondi, was allowed to witness the burial.
