On Sunday, opposition leader Raila Odinga took a coronavirus test at the Kenya Institute of Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and received his results on June 15, 2020.
Odinga, who tested negative for the virus, commended KEMRI and Professor Matilu Mwau for their professionalism and efficiency in conducting the test.
"I want to commend the Kenya Institute of Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and Professor Matilu Mwau for the professionalism and efficiency displayed during the test," Odinga said in a statement.
He also appealed to Kenyans to take tests, sanitize, and observe social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, Narok County health officials have begun mass testing of people entering the county through the Mai Mahiu-Narok highway to prevent the entry of infected individuals.
Isiolo Governor Dr. Mohamed Kuti has called on counties to seek partnerships to intensify their preparedness to handle the coronavirus pandemic, citing the surge in local transmissions of the disease.
