On June 6, President Uhuru Kenyatta emphasized the need for counties to have at least 300-bed capacity to handle COVID-19 cases in case of mass infection. By June 14, Kenya had recorded 3,594 infections and 103 deaths.

Nyandarua County, however, remains one of the few counties yet to record a single COVID-19 case. Governor Francis Kimemia attributes this to the implementation of strict measures outlined by the Ministry of Health.

Kimemia expressed confidence in the county's preparedness, stating, "We are quite well prepared and as a county, we do not like complaining, we like to work together with the national government to see to the best we can get as a county."

As part of the county's efforts, Sh240 million has been set aside to fight the virus, with a significant portion allocated to upgrading health facilities in the region. Kimemia noted that the focus should be on prevention rather than waiting for the beds to be filled.

Already, the county has distributed close to 100,000 masks to residents and made access to water available through the distribution of 7,050 tanks.
