Angola Sees Highest Number of Covid-19 Recoveries

On June 13, 2020, Angola announced a significant milestone in its fight against Covid-19, with 19 people recovering from the virus, the highest number of recoveries in the country since it recorded its first two positive cases on March 21.

According to Health State Secretary Franco Mufinda, the country has seen a total of 61 recoveries, with the previous highest number being 12.

During a Covid-19 update, Mufinda also revealed that eight additional positive cases were recorded, bringing the tally to 138. The country has recorded six deaths and 549 people are currently quarantined.

Notably, all Covid-19 cases in Angola have been recorded in the capital city of Luanda, which has a population of seven million inhabitants.

As of the update, 67 of the positive cases were imported, while 75 were cases of local transmission. Additionally, 1,199 contacts of positive cases have been identified.
