On June 8, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi made accusatory remarks at a press conference in Uasin Gishu County, sparking concerns about the Mungiki sect's activities.
According to Sudi, he had prior information that members of the Mungiki sect were planning to be sent to the Rift Valley to commit heinous crimes against humanity as part of dirty politics.
"We know there are people who are planning to send the Mungiki here to Uasin Gishu, to do things they are not supposed to do," Sudi stated.
He further alleged that these individuals were planning to spark a Kikuyu-Kalenjin war, and that they would blame the conflict on the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities.
Sudi, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of disrespecting their pact, and claimed that these plans were set to undermine Ruto's chances in the 2022 elections.
The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has since summoned Sudi over his remarks, citing concerns about his allegations and their potential impact on national cohesion.
