June 15, 2020, marks a significant day in the ongoing saga surrounding Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru. Just days after Raila Odinga, the ODM party leader, denied ever having a night meeting with Waiguru, sources have come forward to contradict his claims.

According to well-placed sources within government circles, the meeting did indeed take place, and it was during this meeting that Raila Odinga pledged to marshal his forces in the Senate to save Waiguru. Furthermore, operatives allied to Waiguru are said to have convinced Raila's senators to align with her cause, with some even being offered a substantial sum of money as motivation.

Former Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen took to Twitter over the weekend to express his concerns about the situation, stating that if the government and Capitol Hill combine forces, the Senate will do nothing to stop Waiguru's alleged corruption. He also warned that a few senators will make some noise, quote the Constitution, and be ruled out of order by their DC.

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici shared similar sentiments, suggesting that Raila's Capitol Hill office has become a 'sanitizer' for corrupt individuals, with a price tag attached, of course. Minority Whip in the National Assembly, Hon Junet Mohamed, also announced that ODM will defend Waiguru, not based on any facts that clear her name, but because she is a woman and met Raila. The question on everyone's mind is whether Junet also received a share of the Ksh 50 million allegedly offered to the senators.
