On June 15, 2020, Jumia announced that it has opened its logistics arm to external clients for deliveries. The company's logistics network, which supports e-commerce and express Jumia Food deliveries, is now available for third-party use.
According to Jumia Kenya CEO, Sam Chappatte, the move is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced businesses to re-examine their costs. "For many, logistics is a major cost driver and headache to manage," Chappatte said. "At the request of our partners, we are opening up our logistics arm for B2B and B2C deliveries – with the hope that we can provide a better quality of service, at lower cost."
The logistics network, which is a collaboration of dozens of logistics entrepreneurs across the country, offers a range of services, including Next Day delivery to all major cities, Same Day delivery in Nairobi, and cash on delivery services at competitive prices. Businesses interested in using Jumia's logistics services can visit the company's website and register their interest.
As part of its 8th anniversary celebrations, Jumia is offering new clients free first 10 deliveries within Nairobi to test the service. The company's 8th anniversary, themed "Jumia na Jamii, Stronger Together," is scheduled to take place from June 22nd to July 5th, 2020.
