On Sunday, June 14, 2020, Raila Odinga, the Africa Union High Representative for Infrastructure, took the COVID-19 test at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in Mbagathi.

Appealing to all Kenyans to undergo the test, Odinga emphasized the importance of a COVID-19 certificate, saying it was becoming a crucial document.

During his visit, Odinga also motivated the scientists at the testing laboratories, encouraging them to continue serving Kenyans with dedication.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe had urged political leaders to lead by example by following the containment measures, citing concerns about social gatherings by politicians and other individuals that could reverse the gains made in slowing down coronavirus infections.

Some politicians have been holding meetings against the ministry of health protocols, prompting Interior ministry officers to ensure people strictly follow the COVID-19 containment measures.
