On June 14, 2020, King Mohammed VI of Morocco underwent successful heart surgery in Rabat, Morocco, to treat a heart rhythm disorder known as 'atrial flutter.'
According to state news agency MAP, the 56-year-old King was treated for the condition, which he had previously undergone surgery for in Paris two years ago.
King Mohammed VI has headed the Muslim world's longest-serving dynasty since 1999, when his father Hassan II died.
As a constitutional monarchy, Morocco is governed with the King holding sweeping powers.
