Founded in 2011 by primary teacher Ruth Bundotich, the Kamwosor Junior Athletics Training Camp is a beacon of hope for young athletes in Kenya.

One of the camp's notable athletes is Agnes Jebet, an 18-year-old who won silver in the 3,000m event at the Youth Olympics in Argentina in 2018 and finished second at the 2018 Africa junior Cross Country Championship in Algeria.

Other top juniors in the camp include Marion Cheruiyot, Naomi Jeptoo, and Shadrack Kipchirchir, who were preparing for the World under-20 championships in Nairobi in July 2020.

Despite the postponement of the championships due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Jebet remains optimistic about competing in the 5000m event, saying, 'I'll still be within the age bracket to be eligible to compete.'

Coach Ruth Bundotich believes her athletes will one day graduate into world-beaters, saying, 'I have always loved athletics. It has been my passion since I was a child.'

The camp has received support from Athletics Kenya, which allocated Sh7 million to facilitate 19 World Under-20 training camps in Kenya.

As Athletics Kenya's Youth Development Programme chairman, Barnaba Korir said, 'As Athletics Kenya, we decided to remember these youngsters during this difficult period.'
