On June 15, 2020, Davis & Shirtliff made a significant move in the water and energy solutions sector by introducing solar-powered water pumps.
The company, led by chairman Alec Davis, has traditionally supplied water pumps powered by electricity. However, many households have found these pumps to be costly to operate.
According to Mr. Davis, the solar-powered pumps eliminate operating costs associated with running diesel and electric powered generators.
“Benefits of this new solution are huge with capital costs of the pumps being lower than traditional hand pumps and providing totally cost and maintenance free operation – systems simply start with the sun and pump all day,” said Mr. Davis.
The solar-powered pumps, dubbed Dayliff Sunflow, come with photovoltaic (PV) modules, pump, and all accessories for a complete installation. They require as low as 150 watts to operate and provide outputs of up to 12,000 litres per day, supporting several households depending on their daily water-usage levels.
