On June 14, 2020, Kenya's Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe called on Kenyans to take proactive steps in managing the spread of Covid-19.

Speaking at Othaya Hospital in Nyeri County, Kagwe emphasized the importance of early testing and detection of the virus, stating, "When you test early, and in the event we detect the virus early, it becomes easy to manage the disease."

He also highlighted the growing concern of non-communicable diseases, citing the increase in mortality rates.

As part of the government's efforts to combat the pandemic, Kagwe announced that an oxygen plant would be set up at Othaya Hospital within two months.

Amref donated 35 beds, mattresses, and boxes of sanitizer to the hospital, further supporting the government's initiatives.
