On June 14, 2020, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) conducted a raid at Comffy Hotel in Keroka, arresting two suspects in connection with a fraudulent incident at Bata Shoe Company.

The suspects were linked to the theft of goods worth over Sh20 million, which was lost by Bata Shoe Company through fake e-gift vouchers presented at several Bata outlets in Nairobi.

During the raid, detectives recovered a consignment of stolen shoes worth Sh9.8 million, part of the goods lost by Bata.

According to DCI boss George Kinoti, the suspects are in custody, and investigations are ongoing to unravel more people in this network.
