June 14, 2020 - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been approached by Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho, who is reportedly eager to return to the club he left in a record-breaking £142m deal in January 2018.

According to sources close to the matter, Klopp has recently spoken to Coutinho, who is looking to end his miserable stay at Barcelona.

The Reds' financial situation, however, may block Coutinho's path back to Anfield. Liverpool is still recovering from the Covid-19 crisis and has recently pulled out of a potential deal to sign Timo Werner, citing financial constraints.

While a loan move remains a possibility, it is unclear whether the funds could be found to finance a deal for Coutinho. The Reds are still owed portions of the transfer fee they agreed with Barcelona for Coutinho, so some of that cash could be waived if a deal could be struck.

As a result, Coutinho may have to consider alternative loan offers from other top-tier clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham.
