On June 13, 2020, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) announced the resumption of motor vehicle inspection services countrywide, following a thorough assessment of risks and implementation of measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.

According to NTSA Director-General George Njao, the inspections will be carried out in phases. Phase one, which has already commenced, targets taxis, pickups, and vans that had previously booked for inspection.

Phase two, which is currently underway, focuses on Public Service Vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles.

NTSA has also adjusted the expiration dates of bookings that were set to expire on May 30, 2020, to July 31, 2020, to minimize inconvenience to customers.

Motor vehicle owners who have yet to book for inspection are required to do so immediately through their Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) accounts.
