On June 14, 2020, opposition leader Raila Odinga set an example for Kenyans by undergoing a coronavirus disease test at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) centre in Mbagathi, Nairobi.

According to Raila, he took the test to encourage other Kenyans to voluntarily test for Covid-19 and know their health status.

"I took the Covid 19 test at Kemri in Mbagathi earlier today. I took the opportunity to appeal to all Kenyans to go for testing. A COVID-19 certificate is becoming an important document as we continue battling the pandemic," Raila tweeted.
