On June 13, 2020, a peculiar donation was made in a village in Benue's state capital, marking a new low in the state's efforts to combat farmer-herder conflicts.

Benue politician Daniel Ukpera donated over 100 ropes to the goat-rearing communities, claiming the initiative was in support of the state's anti-open grazing and ranches establishment law.

However, the donation has sparked outrage and ridicule on social media, with many questioning the logic behind using ropes to tie goats.

Dr. Olufunmilayo, a popular online doctor, took to Twitter to express her disgust, saying, 'They should use that rope to tie him to a tree and beat him mercilessly like a goat.'

Ukpera's donation is seen as a misstep in the state's efforts to address the farmer-herder conflicts, which have been on the rise in recent years.
