Kenyan motorists are facing a new challenge as the price of petrol has increased, marking the end of a three-month relief period.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) attributed the price hike to a 31.54 percent increase in the average landed cost of imported super petrol in May 2020.
According to EPRA, a litre of petrol in Nairobi will now cost Ksh.89.10, effective midnight on Monday, while diesel and kerosene will be retailed at Ksh.74.57 and Ksh.62.46 respectively.
The price increase is a result of the recent surge in petrol prices, which was caused by the latest price changes in imports during the month of May.
Motorists had enjoyed a three-month reprieve from high petrol costs, but the relief period has come to an end.
