On June 13, 2020, Homa Bay County Woman Representative Gladys Wanga addressed rumors circulating on social media that she was planning to leave the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for Deputy President William Ruto's camp.

A tweet from a fake account claimed that Wanga was frustrated with ODM and would declare her support for Ruto if the party's 'powerful cartels' continued to harass her.

'If some powerful cartels in ODM won't stop harassing me, I will declare my full and unconditional support for DP William Ruto and ditch the dictatorial party. Enough is enough! I'm tired,' the tweet read.

However, Wanga quickly took to her official Twitter handle to expose the fake account and deny the allegations.

'Ignore the fake news and tweets from the usual suspects,' she stated.
