On June 13, police in Kasarani Constituency, Nairobi County, discovered the body of a 44-year-old man in his two-bedroom rented house in Ngumba Estate.

The deceased, a hotel worker in Nairobi, had been laid off recently due to the negative impact of COVID-19 on businesses, according to police.

On June 5, the caretaker of the apartment served the tenant with his May 2020 water bill, but when she returned to his house nearly a week later, she found the bill untouched and a foul smell emanating from the house.

She informed the landlord, who filed a report at Kasarani police post, leading to the discovery of the deceased's body on the floor.

Police suspect that the man died nearly one week ago, and an investigation into his death has begun, led by Kasarani OCPD Muthuri Mwongera.

The cause of his death remains unestablished, though authorities suspect he could have succumbed to a heart attack.
