On June 13, 2020, Rich Mavoko's sister Wenceslaus Dokii revealed that Diamond Platnumz demanded Sh23 million from her brother to terminate their contract.
According to Dokii, Diamond Platnumz's team asked them to pay a compensation fee of Tsh500 million (Sh23 Million) to allow Rich Mavoko to exit the label. However, Dokii and her family stood their ground and declined the offer.
Rich Mavoko had expressed discontent with his contract, which he termed as exploitative. He claimed that Diamond Platnumz's team was unfair in their demands, saying, “Walituambia tuwalipe pesa mob, nikamwambia Diamond no we can’t pay you. It was millions of money inalingana kama ya Harmonize. Nilimwambia pia Sallam (Diamond’s manager) you guys nendeni mkajipekue mjitazame tena, hicho kitu mnachokitaka is it fair?”
Harmonize was forced to part with the same amount of money last year when he asked to leave WCB. He was forced to sell his three houses and a piece of land to raise the money.
The compensation was to allow Harmonize full rights ownership of songs he did under WCB. However, it's not clear if Rich Mavoko still owns the rights to the songs he recorded under Wasafi.
Rich Mavoko left WCB in 2018, just two years after he terminated his contract with Kenyan rapper King Kaka's label Kaka Empire in 2016.
