Police Officers Airlifted to Nairobi After Meru Air Crash

On June 13, 2020, a police chopper crashed in Meru, Kenya, injuring six police officers. The incident occurred at 7am in the Kaithe Kithoka area.

The officers, including the Eastern Regional police commander and county commissioner, were airlifted by a Kenya Airforce helicopter to Nairobi for specialized treatment. They were received at the Wilson Airport by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi.

According to Police Spokesman Charles Owino, the chopper was ferrying the officers to Sololo in Maasai Mara for a security meeting when the accident occurred.
