On June 13, 2020, Millie Mabona, MP for Suba North, shared her thoughts on the expressive nature of Luos in a heartfelt tribute to Abeny Jachiga.

Abeny's burial was a poignant reminder of the importance of respecting the deceased and their loved ones. Mabona noted that the government should have anticipated the number of people who would attend the burial, given the circumstances of Abeny's death.

However, Mabona's tribute quickly shifted to a celebration of the Luos' expressive nature. She pointed out that Luos are known for their love of life, music, and generosity in love. They are also known for their ability to live large, even in humble circumstances.

From their love of musicians like Musa Juma and Abeny Jachiga to their expressive nature in politics and academia, Mabona argued that Luos are a unique and special people. She also acknowledged that some of these traits are beginning to change, particularly in the face of economic and social challenges.

Despite these changes, Mabona refused to take a demeaning approach to the Luos' expressive nature. Instead, she chose to celebrate and appreciate their unique qualities.
