Published on June 13, 2020, the Kenyan Report first broke the story of the Law Society of Kenya's (LSK) plans to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta.
LSK President Nelson Havi has taken a significant step in this ongoing saga by expelling Attorney General Kihara Kariuki from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). In a Notice of Motion seen by the Nyakundi Report, Havi has convened a meeting on June 23rd to effect the changes.
The move comes just days after the LSK issued a statement strongly condemning death threats allegedly sent to President Nelson Havi. The society claims that Havi received these threats after announcing a plan to petition the Senate and the National Assembly to impeach the Head of State and back the Judiciary in its ongoing spat with the Executive.
LSK North Rift Branch Chairperson Joshua Maritim called for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the matter and take action on those involved.
As the situation continues to unfold, the Nyakundi Report will provide updates on this developing story.
