On June 13, 2020, a man was arrested in Matungulu, Machakos County, following the brutal murder of his wife and son.
According to police, the man was detained after neighbours alerted officers from the Joska Police Station following a commotion at the house.
A police officer who was among the first responders described the scene as 'very bad', with the woman's body soaked in blood on the bed and the boy's head chopped off.
Police believe the man attempted to conceal the murder by hiding the boy's torso in a jerican, with the head found next to it.
A murder weapon was also discovered at the scene, and the bodies were taken to the mortuary for further examination.
Although the motive behind the crime is still unknown, an investigation has commenced.
