As the mobile industry continues to shift towards 64-bit computing, Niantic, the developer of popular augmented reality game Pokemon Go, has announced plans to drop support for 32-bit Android devices starting in August 2020.

According to a statement posted on its support pages, the company aims to streamline its development process by focusing on supporting newer operating systems and technologies.

While this news may not affect many users, those with devices released before 2015, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia Z3, the OnePlus One, the HTC One (M8), and others, will have to say goodbye to Pokemon Go come August.

Users of these devices, including the Moto G and the Nexus 6, will have to brace themselves for life without the popular game.

It's worth noting that Google stopped accepting new apps on the Play Store that did not have versions meant for 64-bit devices in August last year, and will stop serving 32-bit apps on devices with 64-bit processors altogether in another year.
