Published on June 13, 2020, a special episode of 'The Daily' podcast explored the power of music in times of social change.

Wesley Morris, a journalist, had listened to Patti LaBelle's live rendition of 'If You Don't Know Me by Now' over a hundred times before. However, during recent protests against racism and police brutality, he heard something new.

"I heard her thinking through an ultimatum now being laid down in the streets of this country," Morris wrote.

He received a call from an unfamiliar number a few days later, and the song's impact on him was clear.
