Peris Kihika, daughter of late politician Kihika Kimani, has been acquitted of assaulting her sister Caroline Kihika on March 29, 2013.
On May 29, 2015, Kihika was sentenced to a two-year jail term, but she appealed the conviction, which was quashed by the High Court in Nakuru on Thursday evening.
Justice Rachel Ngetich set aside the conviction, citing a lack of watertight evidence to prove the assault.
The trial magistrate had relied solely on the testimony of the complainant, Caroline Kihika, without corroboration from other witnesses.
Prosecution witnesses had admitted to finding Peris Kihika fighting with her sister and attempting to separate them, but no one witnessed the alleged assault.
Peris Kihika had been out on a Sh30,000 bond pending her appeal.
