On Thursday, June 11, 2020, the news of Abbeny Jachiga's passing sent shockwaves through the community in East Kolwa, Kisumu county.

However, when it was time for his burial, a chaotic scene unfolded as hundreds of mourners blocked the scheduled burial, claiming they had not been given enough time to mourn him.

The mourners, who had gathered to pay their last respects, filled the already dug grave with soil, demanding a decent send-off for the artist.

Police intervention was necessary to calm the situation, with officers lobbing teargas to disperse the rowdy crowd.

According to MOH protocols, the burial was to be conducted in a hurry to curb the spread of coronavirus, but this move denied the mourners the chance to view Abbeny's remains.

As a result, the mourners demanded that he be accorded a proper burial, prompting the police to intervene.
