As of Friday, June 12, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 cases have reached 3305, with 90 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, the new cases are from 2419 samples, with 62 males and 28 females testing positive.

Unfortunately, 4 persons have succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 96.

However, 72 patients have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1164.

Director of Public Health Dr. Francis Kuria emphasized that about 208 persons have been released from home care and are safe, urging the public not to stigmatize them.

As of June 12, a total of 108666 samples have been tested since the Ministry started the testing process.

The new cases are distributed as follows: 36 from Nairobi, 34 from Mombasa, 12 from Busia, 3 from Uasin Gishu, and 1 each from Kilifi, Kisumu, Meru, and Turkana.

Notably, Kibra area remains a hot spot with 12 persons testing positive, while Makadara and Mathare in Nairobi accounted for 5 persons each.

Dr. Aman stressed the importance of containing the virus, saying that hand washing, social distancing, wearing masks, avoiding crowds, and staying at home are fundamental measures to break the chain of transmission.
