On June 12, 2020, Kenya's Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman announced that the country had recorded 90 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 3,305.
The new cases were discovered in 2,419 samples tested between Thursday and Friday, with all cases registered among Kenyan citizens.
Of the new infections, 62 were male patients and 28 were female, with the youngest patient being 14 years old and the oldest 80 years old.
The new cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi producing 36 cases, Mombasa posting 34, and Busia recording 12 cases.
Other counties that reported new cases include Kilifi, Garissa, Kisumu, Meru, and Turkana, each with one case.
Within Nairobi, the new cases were reported in various neighbourhoods, including Kibra, Makadara, Mathare, Kamukunji, Langata, Westlands, Embakasi Central, Dagoretti North, Embakasi West, and Embakasi South.
In Mombasa, the new cases were reported in Mvita, Kisauni, Likoni, Jomvu, and Changamwe.
Seventy-two more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals across Kenya, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,164, which translates to 35% of the total infections in the country.
Unfortunately, four more patients succumbed to the contagion, pushing the toll to 96, said CAS Dr. Rashid Aman.
