On June 10, 2020, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika took to social media to express her frustration with Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia's handling of Kirinyaga County governance affairs.
At the center of the controversy was the impeachment of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru by the county's Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on June 9, 2020.
CS Kobia had earlier described the impeachment as an attempt to cut down 'strong women' to size.
However, Senator Kihika fired back, accusing CS Kobia of offering selective protection to women leaders.
She claimed that CS Kobia failed to stand by her and former National Assembly Deputy Majority Whip Cecily Mbarire when they were 'undeservedly' axed from their posts.
Senator Kihika's tweet, which included a suggestion that she and Mbarire send nude pictures to CS Kobia, sparked a heated debate online.
Other female leaders, including Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, have thrown their support behind Governor Waiguru.
