Published on June 12, 2020, a controversy surrounding Kenyan producer Magix Enga and American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has come to light.

Magix Enga had Tekashi's song Gooba taken down by YouTube, claiming it infringed on his copyright. However, hours later, Tekashi's team made a counter claim, and the song was reinstated within hours of the false claim.

Magix Enga then took to social media, claiming that the song was put back up because he was paid Ksh 900,000 by the American rapper's team. However, a rep for 6ix9ine released a statement to XXL, denying the claims.

"We investigated this claim and found that it was fraudulent," the statement reads. "No monetary settlement was offered by anyone in our camp."

According to the rep, Magix Enga's actions were a 'false DMCA takedown', a strategy used by copyright trolls to blackmail, clout chase, or sabotage a YouTube channel.
