Nyeri County is set to distribute food donations to over 10,000 households, starting next week. The donations, which were received from the Kikuyu Council of Elders, will be targeted at families who are genuinely in need due to the negative effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to Governor Mutahi Kahiga, the county has planned to distribute the donations every week. The governor thanked the Kikuyu Council of Elders for their noble gesture and assured them that the donations will be distributed fairly.

Additionally, the county is working on setting up a 300-bed capacity site for symptomatic patients, as recommended by the Ministry of Health. Asymptomatic patients will be referred for home-based care.

The Kikuyu Council of Elders, led by National Vice Chairman Dr. Eng. David Muthoga, praised Governor Kahiga for his efforts and encouraged other well-wishers to join in the fight against the pandemic by donating food to vulnerable families.
