Published on June 12, 2020, police in Utange, Kisauni Sub-County, Mombasa County are on the hunt for a 30-year-old man accused of sexually abusing his two daughters.

The suspect, whose identity has been withheld to protect the victims' identities, allegedly escaped from his home early this week after being informed that authorities were on their way to arrest him.

According to the police, the man fled his home after the minors, whom he has allegedly been abusing sexually, recorded statements with the police.

Area police boss, OCPD Julius Kirugi, stated that there are crucial leads being followed, which will lead to the suspect's hideout.

The police boss added that the man's actions were a result of his violent behavior towards his wife and children.

The suspect's wife described him as a violent man who had trust issues and would often accuse her of infidelity.

She stated that her husband would occasionally pour out meals she had prepared for the children, saying it was another man who bought the food, and then beat her before asking their daughters to perform oral sex on him.

Should the suspect be arrested, prosecuted, and found guilty of committing an indecent act with a child, he faces a jail sentence of at least 10 years.

Section 11 (1) of Kenya's Sexual Offences Act 2006 states that any person who commits an indecent act with a child is guilty of the offence and is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than ten years.
