On Thursday, Stormzy, a British rapper, announced a £10 million donation over the course of a decade to support causes that empower black people.
Published on June 12, 2020, Stormzy stated that the uncomfortable truth is that black people in the UK have been at a constant disadvantage in every aspect of life due to the colour of their skin.
Stormzy, who made history by becoming the first British rapper to headline Glastonbury, said he had heard people dismiss racism in Britain by citing his own success.
He emphasized that he is not the UK's shining example of what supposedly happens when a black person works hard, and that there are millions of others like him.
Stormzy also highlighted the need to fight against a racist system stacked against black people, designed for them to fail from before they are even born.
Stormzy's commitment to empowering black people is not new, as he had previously funded two black British students to attend the University of Cambridge in 2018.
