As the 2022 general elections draw near, Kasipul MP Ong'ondo Were has been on a roll, launching several mega projects in his constituency that have left his political rivals burning the midnight oil in a bid to plot his downfall.

On June 12, 2020, the ODM legislator launched the construction of two major water projects aimed at alleviating the perennial water shortage affecting over 2,000 locals in his area.

The Mawira Community Water Project in Kokech Location and the Soko Kawino Spring Water project in West Kamagak Location are being undertaken by the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency at a cost of Sh. 10 million each.

Despite his efforts to improve the lives of his constituents, Ong'ondo's perceived haters have remained critical of his leadership style and are said to be plotting against his second term bid.

However, the MP has dismissed his attackers, terming them failures with selfish political interests.

He accused the campaign team of Homabay gubernatorial loser Joseph Oyugi Mwgwanga of sponsoring back-to-back propaganda against him in retaliation to a decision in which he defended the victory of Governor Cyprian Awiti.

Ong'ondo has been a darling of the voters following some impressive CDF projects under his short stint in office, including the successful construction of modern police camps, chief and assistant chief offices, and the arrangement of Sh. 10,000 bursary for every beneficiary.

He has also set up ICT centres in every ward to tap the talents of the youth and has been actively coordinating control measures in his constituency since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
