Kenyan music fans are witnessing a series of exits from Sauti Sol's Sol Generation music label. The latest artist to leave is Kaskazini, who did not feature in the group's Midnight Train album released on June 5th, 2020.
According to Sauti Sol's lead singer Bien Aime Baraza, the exit of Kaskazini follows the departure of Crystal Asige, who was kicked out of the group for unknown reasons just a few months ago.
Bien explained that the group has been downsizing, stating, 'It's been so difficult. We started with four, and now there are two.' He referred to the exits of Crystal Asige and Kaskazini, adding that the remaining members, Nviiri and Bensoul, are the future of Kenyan music.
When asked about her exit from Sol Generation, Crystal Asige told K24's Chit Chat hosts that she had no idea why the management kicked her out. She stated, 'Back in November they told me that they wanted me to leave, they don't want me to be in the group anymore and so I left. That's literally the beginning and the end of the story.'
On the other hand, Bien revealed that the group had a few issues working with Crystal Asige, describing the exit as an 'amicable break' and stating that they are glad they gave her a platform.
