Published on June 12, 2020, ChildFund Kenya has taken a significant step in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by redirecting Sh64 million from its emergency fund to support vulnerable households.

The organization has disbursed the funds in the form of cash transfers to 18,480 vulnerable households in 26 counties across the country. This move is aimed at enabling families to access essential hygiene kits, including hand-washing facilities, and meet their basic nutritional needs.

ChildFund Country Director Chege Ngugi emphasized the need to support vulnerable families during these challenging times. 'We are committed to assisting vulnerable families, and we shall continue to do so on a rolling window basis,' he said.

The funds have been channeled through 13 implementing partners, including Nawiri Children’s Program, Samburu Children’s Program, and Metropolitan Child Care Organization, among others.

Ngugi appealed to more partners and individuals to come on board in transforming the lives of vulnerable families.
