Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has made history by becoming the first artiste to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. This achievement was celebrated with a party in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to reports, Diamond Platnumz joined YouTube in 2011 and has been consistently uploading content to the platform. His hit songs, including 'Yope Remix', 'Nana', 'Inama', and 'African Beauty', have been instrumental in achieving this milestone.

As part of the celebrations, Diamond Platnumz expressed his gratitude to his fans, management, and team for their support. He also urged the East African community to avoid underrating their capacity and to support one another in achieving greater heights.

Interestingly, Kenya ranked as the country that bagged him the most views globally, between May 1, 2019, and May 1, 2020.

On Wasafi TV, Diamond Platnumz addressed his fans, thanking everyone who supported him and his music. He also emphasized the importance of supporting one another and avoiding hate and false rumors.

As a result of this achievement, Diamond Platnumz has been recognized by American media group, Billboard, for being among the most watched African artistes on YouTube.
